Vashon College was founded in 1892 and offered programs in military tactics, elocution, language, music, and ‘higher math’. In 1898 it grew to 200 students with coeducational dormitories for men and women. In 1912, the College was destroyed by fire and ceased operation.
In 2006, ninety-four years after the fire, Vashon College reopened. Today it is envisioned as a catalyst for lifelong learning, offering academic classes, educational forums concerning community issues, continuing education, and cultural enrichment programs tailored to the diverse needs of Vashon’s population.
With its dedication to lifelong learning, Vashon College brings opportunities to discover, to create, and to participate in ways previously unavailable on Vashon.
