AquaLiteracy

Vashon College's AquaLiteracy program focuses attention on the problems and solutions surrounding water.  AquaLiteracy addresses water quality, sanitation, hygiene, water for agriculture, and waste water treatment.   The College has taken a proactive role in documenting real-world water challenges. The video, "One Bucket of Water," follows Florence Cassassuce, the inventor of the UV Bucket, as she assists non-profit Rotary Club and World Neighbors in a needs assessment of the Santiago region of Guatemala.

Vashon College established the Booth Gardner Center for Global Thinking to bring together the right people and tools to address the world's most urgent problems.  The Center is named for Booth Gardner, the 19th Governor of Washington State, who is a strong advocate for such issues as environmental protection and elimination of poverty.

Gardner Fellowship Program

The Center will soon launch the Gardner Fellowship Program.  Gardner Fellows will be selected from around the globe for their capacity to innovate and foster change.  They will be given access to powerful collaboration tools, enabling this global community to work closely and effectively together.

The Center's Program on Aqualiteracy focuses attention on the problems and solutions surrounding water.   The Center defines AquaLiteracy in broad terms; it addresses water quality, sanitation, hygiene, water for agriculture, and waste water treatment.
