Enrollment Starting Now for Artful Vashon 2009--Gift Certificates are Available

Early bird enrollment is beginning now for the popular Artful Vashon course, to be offered again in spring 2009 by Vashon College.  The early registration fee for the course will be $125 through December 31. After the 31st, the course cost will be $150.  Again this year, holiday gift certificates may be purchased, taking advantage of the early bird rate, and our Vashon College Elves can deliver these handsomely wrapped gift certificates if desired. 

The six week course investigates what it means to be artful and seeks compelling examples on Vashon.  The class meets from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday afternoons from March 1 through April 5, and includes presentations/experiences at Courthouse Square and visits to artists’ locations. Each week students prepare to be amazed and enchanted.  This year’s artful presenters include Pirate Camp Captains, Jim and Jackie Chobot; Performance Art Founders of UMO, ISLEWILDE, and “O”, Janet McAlprin and David Godsey; Up-With-People Musician and beloved Special Education teacher, Paul Colwell; Magnificent Mosaic Artist, Clare Dohna; Vashon’s own indigenous artists and storytellers, Orca Annie Stateler and Odin Lonning; and East meets West Iron Chef creators of the ultimate feast, Ben Meeker and Paul Motoyoshi. 

A materials fee of $40 will be collected for all participants.  Students from last year’s Artful Vashon class may enroll again by permission. Wait-listed students from last year will be given priority to enroll through December 31.  Partial scholarships are available.  The class size will be limited to thirty students.

A completed application form is needed with all enrollments. Download an application here, or request a copy from Pamn.  The early bird tuition deadline is December 31, 2008.  Beginning January 1, the regular rate of $150 plus the $40 materials fee will apply.
